The first church of Malbuisson was built in 1618. It was destroyed by fire at the end of the 19th century. The new church dedicated to St Claude was built in 1932 in one of the upper parts of the village, according to the plans of the Pontiac architect Mognetti
It consists of a bell tower-porch, a nave flanked by two aisles and cut by a transept opening onto the choir. The nave, the aisles and the choir are illuminated by figurative stained glass windows whose lively colours brighten up this sober architecture, which is based on classical architectural vocabulary. Only the coat of arms (dated 1618) of the original chapel and the foundation stone of a former chapel (dated 1715) have been reused in the current building.
Worthy of note are: a stone Christ on the Cross (12th century) which could have come from a roadside cross or a calvary; two other Christ on the Crosses (17th and 18th centuries), in polychrome painted wood; a painted wooden statue of the Black Madonna of Einsiedeln signed and dated under the base: Maugain, 1786. It is probably a local sculptor, otherwise unknown.
Devotion to the Black Madonna had spread in Franche-Comté from the Swiss abbey of Einsiedeln during the Counter-Reformation.
