Located off the coast of Perros-Guirec, the Sept-Îles archipelago is France?s largest ornithological reserve.
Despite its name, it comprises five main islands? Rouzic, Malban, Bono, Île Plate and Île aux Moines? as well as several islets and reefs.
Created in 1976, the reserve is home to a remarkable biodiversity. It is home to France?s only colony of Northern Gannets, as well as puffins, crested cormorants, guillemots and grey seals.
Île aux Moines, the only island open to visitors, features an 18th-century military fort and a working lighthouse (not open to the public). The other islands are closed to the public to preserve their flora and fauna.
Spring and summer are the best times to visit them by boat, when the birds are nesting.
