10/19 - Ecuador - Land of Diversity - 2:30 p.m.
Bordered by the Pacific Ocean, crossed by the Andes, and bisected by the equator, Ecuador is an extraordinary land boasting one of the greatest levels of biodiversity on the planet. This natural diversity is interwoven with a rich cultural mosaic, comprising the descendants of Spanish and Amerindian ancestors, as well as 13 indigenous peoples. The identity of each of these groups is intimately linked to its territory. On the slopes of dormant volcanoes, in the heart of tropical forests, in coastal villages, and on the streets of Quito, this film will transport you into a world of teeming nature. It will also introduce you to a people determined to protect their traditions
11/12 - Philippines - Between Dream and Reality - 2:30 p.m.
With its sumptuous landscapes, terraced rice fields, dreamlike beaches, and crystal-clear turquoise waters, this country has become a highly sought-after destination for tourists from around the world. Located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, however, it is often confronted with impressive volcanic eruptions and powerful typhoons. Facing the violence of this unpredictable nature with humility, I encountered a smiling people, imbued with gentleness, endowed with a great sense of hospitality, an immense Catholic faith, and a deep commitment to the strength of family and children. I’ll take you from island to island to discover mysterious healers, headhunters, sumptuous festivals, and exceptional underwater landscapes.
7/12 - Route 66 - The Trail of the American Dream - 2:30 p.m.
From Chicago to Los Angeles, it winds like a scar across the desert, between canyons and endless plains. Artists tell its story, and archival films bring its early days back to life. As described by Kerouac and Steinbeck, it is the road of the American Dream, channeling the strength of a people toward the conquest of the West. Harley-Davidson and Cadillac, ghost towns, rock and country music—does Route 66 carry our dreams, our nostalgia for an idealized America?
1/11 - The Pyrenees - 2:30 p.m.
A true natural barrier separating France and Spain, between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, the Pyrenees offer breathtaking panoramas. Peaks over 3,000 meters, emerald lakes, villages tucked away in the mountains, pastoral traditions, a wildlife sanctuary where vultures reign supreme in the Pyrenean skies, and the bear, which continues to spark debate? To understand the Pyrenees, means hiking the GR 10, that long-distance hiking trail, trying to decipher the high mountains, and getting a taste of the mountain passes featured in the Tour de France? It also means listening to the locals, who will lead us into their valleys, and discovering this region shaped by its geography and climate, its traditions, and human activities.
January 23 – Antarctica – 4:00 p.m.
Antarctica, a continent so distant, so extreme, and yet the setting for some of humanity’s greatest adventures. The first explorers recounted their extraordinary expeditions, which only the imagination can truly picture. All were driven by the quest for achievement and the discovery of the unknown. It is the same magnetic attraction that scientists and tourists experience today, whether on a cruise or during a wintering season. Through their encounters, we catch a glimpse of the indescribable: life on a vast, frozen continent where extremes coexist. This inhospitable land pushes humanity beyond its physical and psychological limits, while offering a daily sense of wonder. It also promises new scientific discoveries that will lead to a better understanding of this pristine and fragile land... so that we may better protect it.
February 22 – Ethiopia – 2:30 p.m.
On the night of January 6–7, Christian Ethiopia is in a state of upheaval for “Genna,” Christmas.
In the weeks leading up to the festival, pilgrims set out from all corners of the country toward Lalibela, the Ethiopian Jerusalem, where the celebration is at its most spectacular.
To be privileged witnesses to this faith, Frédéric and Olivier will walk for 23 days through breathtaking landscapes, far from everything, moved by the spirituality all around them. Through their vibrant testimony of humanity, they take us to another Ethiopia: mountainous, Christian, welcoming. Very welcoming! A powerful rebuke to prejudice, an ode to the beauty of a proud people...
A multi-award-winning documentary recognized around the world!
