One of the most powerful men in Brittany at the end of the Middle Ages, Viscount Jean II de Rohan, demanded in the 15th century that a new castle be built to defend his capital. Closed following its collapse in 2014 and still undergoing renovation, the château-fort de Pontivy is gradually reopening its doors.
