Fortress built in the 10th century on a magnificent site by Viscount Géraud de Limoges, husband of Rothilde de Brosse. Owned by the Lords of Brosse, Chauvigny and the Bourbon-Montpensier family, the fortress was burnt down by the English during the Hundred Years' War.
