Concert by the Alla Francesca ensemble from the Centre de musique médiévale de Paris, "Joie et plaisance".

In the 13th and 14th centuries, lyric poetry reached its apogee with a number of trouvères who made their mark by singing of love for their Lady.
Thus, Thibaut de Champagne's heart leaps for the beautiful, graceful body; Adam de la Halle, his heart full of love, begs his playful Lady to listen to him; Jehan de Lescurel holds out the hope that his heart will remain in the one he loves without deceit; and finally, Guillaume de Machaut, languishing with delight, dies, his heart rejoicing, to serve his Lady loyally.
