À propos
Welcome to the wolf’s lair!
This mythical creature, the undisputed master of our childhood imaginations, has endured through the centuries, bearing the weight of our deepest fears. Yet, over the past four decades, children’s literature has undergone a spectacular shift: the terrifying predator of traditional folktales has given way to a figure of inexhaustible richness. By turns ambiguous, ridiculous, civilized, vulnerable, or supportive, the contemporary wolf has become a precious mirror in which children learn to tame their fears, laugh at authority figures, and build relationships with others.
This exhibition is presented by Troyes Mille Pages in conjunction with its youth literary festival, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary and will be held in Troyes, at the Espace Argence, from October 8 to 11, 2026.
This exhibition is divided into two sections:
> Path 1 – The Faces of the Wolf:
A thematic journey through stories to analyze how authors have transformedthe figure of the animal, from the legacy of Perrault’s and Grimm’s moral tales to stories of social interaction and self-acceptance.
> Tour 2 – Inside the Artists’ Secrets:
A visual and technical immersion into the heart of the work of six great contemporary creators—Antoine Guilloppé, Benjamin Lacombe, Justine Brax, Mathias Friman, Philippe Jalbert, and Kimiko. From laser cutting to baroque gouache, flamboyant motifs, and minimalist graphics, discover how materials, lines, and colors continually breathe new life into myth.
A scaled-down version of this exhibition will be available in Prét upon request.
