As a place of education for European citizenship open to all, the Lieu d'Europe aims to make citizens aware of Europe and to strengthen their sense of belonging to a community of values.
Equipped with a permanent exhibition, a resource centre run by the Information Centre on the European Institutions and meeting and discussion rooms, the Lieu d'Europe has the mission of :
- to inform the public about the institutions, the history of Europe and its close links with the history of Strasbourg and European current affairs;
- encourage the construction of European citizenship, stimulate exchanges and debate ;
- bringing citizens closer to the European institutions ;
- to make explicit and share the values of democracy, peace and human rights;
- to make known the richness and cultural diversity of the different European countries.
