Musée Historique

Housed in the city?s Grandes Boucheries, built in 1588, the Musée Historique offers a tour of Strasbourg?s history from the Middle Ages to the creation of European institutions. A selection of objects and a 1727 relief map of the city illustrate Strasbourg?s history in three chapters: the Free City of the Holy Roman Empire (1262?1681), the Royal and then Revolutionary Free City (1681-1800) and the city in the 19th and 20th centuries, and the factors that made Strasbourg a regional metropolis and a European capital.
