Synagogue du Quai Kléber

The old synagogue on the Quai Kléber has been replaced by a square in front of the Place des Halles shopping center. The building was built in 1897 in a neo-Romanesque style. With a capacity of 1,600 seats, the synagogue could accommodate the entire Jewish community of the time. In 1940, the Hitler Youth set fire to the building before it was dynamited in 1941. The Alley of the Righteous Among the Nations, inaugurated in 2012, testifies to the past of the place.
