À propos
The Wasselonne organ is the 10th by Jean André SILBERMANN. It was built in 1745 for the church of the Dominicans in Guebwiller, Haut-Rhin. This organ follows the model of the instrument built by André for the Dominicans in Colmar, the only difference being the addition of a Flute 4 to the positive. The instrument was acquired by the commune of Wasselonne during the French Revolution. It was the town council that wanted a larger instrument than the simultaneous church had. It was an arduous project, since the ceiling height did not exceed 7.89m, and the organ was finally installed between May 29 and September 9, 1792. That's almost four months of installation. The organ is thus unique in that it is older than the building in which it is housed. Today, 71% of the organ?s pipes, cases and windchests are original. As a result, the organ was listed as a Monument Historique in 1972. This classification helped finance the restoration of the organ
