Maison Adolph

Built around 1350, this house is considered to be one of the oldest in Colmar. It owes its name to the Adolph family who, at the end of the 19th century, cleared the Gothic bays. These bays date from the end of the 14th century and, with their pointed arch windows, mark the influence of religious art on urban architecture. The third floor and the timber-framed gable are additions resulting from works undertaken during the 16th century.


Adjacent to the Adolph house is a well dating from 1592 and surmounted by a gallows with two lion's heads, which was originally in the nearby Rue des Marchands.
