L'Agglomération de Chaumont is an intercommunal community located in the Haute-Marne department, in the Grand Est region of France. With 63 member communes, it has a population of almost 45,000.
Located in the heart of the Grand Est region, in a privileged environment as much for the quality of its living environment as for the richness and variety of its heritage, the Agglomération de Chaumont benefits from a variety of facilities and cultural programs in a green setting, and is distinguished by its proactive policy of providing its population with a living environment that meets everyone?s needs.
With 14 compulsory and optional areas of responsibility, the Chaumont district is involved in the management and running of leisure centers, the organization of public transport, waste management, economic development, the management of sports facilities and the maintenance of hiking trails, to name but a few.
The executive power is represented by President Stéphane MARTINELLI since July 16, 2020.
The current Chaumont Agglomération was created on January 1, 2017, following the merger of 3 EPCIs (Établissements Publics de Coopération Intercommunale), namely the Communauté d?Agglomération de Chaumont, the Communauté de communes du Bassin Nogentais and the Communauté de communes de Bologne, Vignory, Froncles.
The territory extends around the town of Chaumont and the village of Colombey-les-deux-Eglises. The Marne and Blaise valleys run through it. The area lies at the crossroads of Eastern France. Chaumont, with a population of 25,000, is the central town of the community and the prefecture of Haute-Marne. The area is well served by motorways (to Paris, Lyon, Nancy and Reims) and rail (Paris-Mulhouse and Reims-Dijon lines).
