À propos
Lafauche was the administrative center of an important barony until the French Revolution; it was part of the Reynel deanery, diocese of Toul, and depended on the election and bailliage of Chaumont, provostry of Andelot. An important fortified castle was built here. The former barony included the parishes of Prez, Vesaignes-sous-Lafauche and Liffol-le-Petit, with the more recent addition of the seigneuries of Semilly, Chalvraines, Aillianville, Avrainville and Orquevaux. In the 18th century, this barony was owned by Marshal de Broglie. The château was under the jurisdiction of Joinville. It lost its feudal importance during the French Revolution.
