Maison à échauguette
À propos
Originally with few, small openings, this building seems to have been designed more for defensive than residential purposes. The proximity of one of the gates to the canonical quarter, the Porte de Moab, destroyed in the mid-19th century, supports this hypothesis. This would seem to be an edifice created by the canons of the cathedral, the very lords of this part of the city. The watchtower at one of the corners would have controlled access to the canons' enclosure. The steeply sloping roof is made of chestnut shingles. The old wooden gutter supports and sculpted gargoyles still survive.

Not open to the public: this private site can only be viewed from the outside.
