Ancienne Halle

Previously, this old hall was occupied by the cutlery trade union. Over a century old, it was created by employers and small craftsmen. Its aim is to defend the interests of the Nogent cutlery industry. In 1889, it enabled the basin to participate in the Exposition Universelle under the brand name "collectivité Haute-Marne", the first affirmation of Nogent?s place in the cutlery industry. It took part in negotiating customs tariffs and controlling shipments, and called for the construction of a railroad. On the social front, it was also involved with the Société de Secours Mutuel, a kind of provident society before its time.
