Saint-Gérard de Marbotte church dates from the late 18th century, in a classical style.
The building became famous during the First World War. The interior of the church served as a mortuary; the bodies of French soldiers who had died in combat in the Apremont forest were laid on the church floor and blessed, before being buried in one of the four temporary necropolises adjacent to Marbotte.
Today, the church contains stained-glass windows commemorating the Great War, an altar of remembrance blessed in 1922 and various pennants donated by veterans' associations.
