Réserve du lac de Madine

The biodiversity of Lake Madine is the reason for the creation of the National Hunting and Wildlife Reserve. This reserve covers 1800 ha and encompasses the entire shores of Madine Lake. It is managed by the Office National de la Chasse et de la Faune Sauvage (ONCFS), which develops missions relating to environmental protection and knowledge of wildlife and its habitats. Specific regulations apply (see on the Reserve's entrance signs). As far as ornithology is concerned, the Madine Lake has become from its creation a very favourable site for the wintering of aquatic birds (anatidae) and migratory birds. It is possible to observe them from the observatory of Pointe aux Chênes (Madine-Heudicourt side). This observatory is accessible to people with disabilities (parking at the entrance of the access road). Two discovery trails allow walkers an introduction to migratory birds (The "Travellers' Memories" trail, 6 km round trip) and to the evolution of the landscape linked to the history of the site (The "Landscapes of Memory" trail, 2 km round trip).
