À propos
In 1909, Léon Vadel, a local sculptor, created a bronze statue representing the famous Renaissance sculptor Ligier Richier. But a few years later, during the occupation, the statue was cast by German soldiers. Vadel therefore decided to make a new one after the war. Completed in 1934, the sculpture shows a young Ligier Richier, holding a chisel in one hand and a sledgehammer in the other. For his face, Vadel was inspired by that of the angel present in the Tomb of Saint-Etienne church.
