À propos
Representing a wounded warrior supported by a Winged Victory, this group by the sculptor Rodin was presented in 1879 at a competition organised by the General Council of the Seine to commemorate the resistance of Parisians against the Prussians in 1870. Considered too violent for the time, the statue was not accepted. In 1916, the Netherlands requested permission to make a bronze print of it to offer it to the city of Verdun.
The order was completed in 1920 and installed in Verdun, Place de la Roche, Porte Saint Paul and then on the promenade of the Boulhaut brothers.
