Commune de Le Val-d'Ajol

Just 10 km from Plombières-les-Bains, Val-d'Ajol is famous for its Andouille, a local specialty that has been protected since 1984. Every year, the Andouille Fair, held on the 3rd Monday in February, attracts thousands of visitors. The largest municipality in Lorraine, Val-d'Ajol boasts a rich heritage: a listed church, typical chalots, lava roofs and numerous chapels, fountains and washhouses. There are no fewer than 145 listed crosses (around 250 in the Vosges méridionales), 3 of which are listed as Monuments Historiques. The Val d'Ajol, criss-crossed by 150 km of signposted footpaths, can be explored through its 70 hamlets.
Primarily an agricultural area, the commune was transformed into an industrial valley after the '70s war. Today, the Val-d?Ajol lives on crafts and small-scale industry.
