Visite guidée : L'abbaye du Vœu by night
📅 Jul 8 – Aug 26, 2026
📍 Cherbourg-Octeville, 50100 Cherbourg-en-Cotentin
À propos
Founded in 1145 by Empress Mathilde, the Abbaye du V?u was regularly ravaged throughout its history. Losing its abbey status in the second half of the 18th century, its buildings welcomed King Louis XVI in 1786. Transformed into a hospital during the Revolution, then into barracks, it was burnt down by the Germans in 1944. It owes its rebirth to Yves-Marie Froidevaux, chief architect of historic monuments, who had the refectory and chapter house rebuilt.
