The EDF Treignac arch dam was built between 1949 and 1951 to generate hydroelectricity. The power station, fed by a penstock, is located at Chingeat, after a 7 km, 164 m drop. The power station has a capacity of 32.5 MW, enough to supply a town of 36,000 inhabitants.
