The Musée Charbonneau-Lassay houses rich and varied collections, largely bequeathed by the scholar Louis Charbonneau-Lassay (1871-1946): archaeological objects from the region and beyond, old books, swords and firearms. Today, his collection coexists with 19th-century paintings, emblematic pieces of folk art from the Loudun region, and an astonishing collection of African art, including imposing ritual masks.
Housed in a former 18th-century mansion in the town's oldest quarter, the museum stands alongside listed historic monuments such as the Porte du Martray and the remarkable Gothic church of St-Hilaire.
