Come and discover or rediscover the archaeological remains of the "Clos de la Lombarde" through a breathtaking reconstruction of the two "domus" and the thermal baths, and feel the atmosphere of strolling through its streets. Thanks to computer-generated images in the new immersive room of the Clos, you'll be able to travel to the heart of a Roman quarter from the 2nd century AD, completing your visit to the site.
Discovered by Raymond and Maryse SABRIE, the Clos de la Lombarde archaeological site has been excavated since 1974 by the G.R.A.N. It corresponds to an area of the residential quarter north of Roman Narbonne, bordering the Voie Domitienne, close to a vast necropolis, occupied by large domus whose famous fresco paintings are on display at the Narbonne Archaeological Museum.
Knowledge of the architecture of the Gallo-Roman house in Narbonne has progressed considerably in recent years. This is due to the fact that extensive excavations have been carried out and research into mural painting has expanded.
