"As in previous years, the mixed Basque choir AIREZ-AIRE will be performing again this autumn in the church of Saint SATURNIN in ARGELÈS GAZOST.
The choir will present a program of essentially Basque songs, in moving or festive tones, with a few inclusions drawn from a melting pot of Italian, Iberian or Latin American origins, just as enjoyable and diverse.
Lovers of choral singing will appreciate a constantly renewed repertoire, the concern of Jean-Claude LANDART, the group's historic conductor, being to offer the public melodies that are not very widespread or used, often carried by personal harmonizations, singular characteristics that characterize the group. Borrowings from other folklores are sometimes adapted into Basque, but more often restored in their original language. These further broaden the palette of sound colors intended for an audience always curious to discover a program "off the beaten track"
