La Maison du Tourmalet welcomes you to the top of the Col du Tourmalet at an altitude of 2,115 metres!
La Maison du Tourmalet offers 360° shows in an immersive Dome, a coffee shop & hot snack (from mid-June to mid-September: with quiches, sandwiches, sweet treats and drinks), a souvenir store and an exhibition area on the Starry Sky Reserve.
The latter is open free of charge when the Maison is open.
Two immersive shows are offered to visitors: "Nox, le voyage dans la nuit" (15 min.) is an immersive journey that raises awareness of the impact of light pollution and offers a new perspective on darkness. It takes the traveler on a journey to the Col du Tourmalet, then the Pic du Midi, and lifts him to the planets beyond the summits. Night is a mysterious yet fascinating time.
"Le Col des Géants" (35 min.) tells the story of the Tour de France?s greatest mountain pass: the 1st pass to reach an altitude of over 2,000 metres in 1910, the most frequently climbed pass on the Grande Boucle, the pass that made the legend of the greatest climbers! A 360-degree immersive experience told by the heroes of yesterday and today.
In winter, a pedestrian pass (available from the ticket office in La Mongie) provides easy access to the Col du Tourmalet from La Mongie, via the Chapelle and Espade chairlifts, and includes the "Nox" and "Col des géants" sessions. Snowshoes are compulsory for this tour. Skiers are also invited to stop off at the Maison du Tourmalet.
