HÔPITAL MILITAIRE

The military hospital was built between 1861 and 1864, under Napoleon III, to replace a smaller building. This superb, imposing 19th-century building, pleasantly renovated and full of charm, welcomed war wounded, soldiers and officials coming for treatment until 1960. Since its reopening in 1998, the military hospital has been used for a variety of purposes, always linked to the army (training center, military mountain post). Today, the Centre de Barèges is used as an "accommodation-bivouac" for oxygenation or reconditioning stays, as part of an end-of-mission or cohesion program.
