Located in the heart of the Terres de Peyre, the site of the Roc du Peyre culminates at an altitude of nearly 1180 metres. From the 12th century onwards, the site was crowned by a fortified village, fief of the barony of Peyre.
Today, there are no remains of this fortress, destroyed during the Wars of Religion in the first half of the 17th century in retaliation.
