The Steinsau dam is equipped with a pass with successive basins. It consists of 8 basins with 15 cm high steps which allow to compensate a 1,2 m difference in level.
The structure has been completely rebuilt and also has 6 ichthyocompatible Archimedean screws producing electricity. These turbines seem to have a lower impact on downstream species (salmon, eels).
The Steinsau is equipped with a video-counting system consisting of 4 light panels and cameras connected to a computer. These panels are easily transportable, which is why, in the long term, it will be necessary to mobilize this station according to the requests and studies on other structures.
