À propos
Led by the teams from the Maison des Ferr%E8re and the Baroque Pyr%E9n%E9en, the Church of Saint John the Baptist in Campan will reveal its secrets and history to you. Rebuilt in the 17th century after a fire, it features a unique architectural style. Its massive bell tower, whose spire—flanked by four small towers—resembles that of the church in Beaudéan. It is also the only church in the valley to have a narthex extending along two sides, housing a small 16th- or 17th-century altarpiece. The church in Campan preserves a rich collection of Baroque furnishings, representative of
Pyrenean Baroque art. These furnishings illustrate the evolution across three generations of the Ferrère dynasty, featuring a small altarpiece by Jean I Ferrère (1620–1705), a major altarpiece in the choir, created by Marc Ferrère (1674–1758), and a baptismal font attributed to Jean II Ferrère (1718–1795).
