À propos
The castle
Everyone in the region knows the castle and park at the junction of Ottrott-le-Bas and Ottrott-le-Haut. On the other hand, few people are aware of the history of this house and the botanical richness of its park.
The property, called "du Windeck", is a former seigneury.
The park
Behind the castle, whose entrance looks onto the main street of the village, there is a magnificent park. Spread over an area of 11 hectares, the layout of this park, with the judicious arrangement of its vegetation, its studied perspectives, its tiered ponds, the harmonious design of its paths, forms a marvellous whole. Among the 126 varieties found to date, we distinguish three categories: exotic trees, American flora and European trees.
Property of the charitable home, the Château du Windeck (19th century) is on the upper part of the park, a real museum of classified trees. It is considered to be one of the most remarkable parks in Alsace with its perspectives, its paths and its ponds.
Access: Please report to the entrance before making the visit.
