À propos
The campus was established in 1957 on the Montmuzard hill, following the project of the rector Marcel Bouchard. The architect Roger Martin Barade designed many buildings on the campus, including the science faculty.
Later, other architects continued Roger Barade's work, building several structures, such as the Gymnasium in the 1960s, or the Atheneum, created by B. Lentz and inaugurated in 1983. Then came the extension of the law and literature faculty, followed by the Maison de l'Université and finally the Maison de l'Etudiant in 2005.
In addition, the Dijon campus of the University of Burgundy is home to several contemporary works of art, thanks in particular to the 1% art scheme (public commissions), and has become a place to discover living artists. One can thus discover :
- the sculpture "Hommage à Jacques Monod", by Gottfried Honegger (1974), on the Esplanade Erasme
- the work "Tente" (the five V-shaped columns, in stainless steel), made by Agam Yaacov, in 1974 and which is located near the Mirande Faculty of Sciences
- Divionis Mechanica Fossilia Arman", created in 1976 by Arman, at the IUT (boulevard Petitjean)
- Anti-Robot", by Karel Appel (1976) towards the Law-Literature building
- The "Construction plastique verticale n°101" by Jean Gorin (1983) which is located near the CRDP
- The "Tellem Improvisations" (14 blocks of Corton stone) by Alain Kirili (1999), on the Esplanade Erasme
- Yan Pei Ming's "Portraits" (1993), located in the Maret university restaurant in the city centre)
- and finally, the "5 flags", created by Burkhard Balthasar, in 1993 and presented in the Sports Centre on campus.
