Tour de l'ancien Télégraphe Chappe

📍 Saverne, Bas-Rhin · D171, 67700 Saverne
À propos
France was the first country to have a telecommunications network as early as 1794, thanks to the aerial telegraph invented by Claude Chappe. From 1798 to 1852, the Saverne station was one of the links in the line between Paris and Strasbourg

The Tower of the old Chappe telegraph allows visitors to discover how aerial telegraphy worked and the impact on the imagination of its contemporaries. A demonstration of the reconstructed device and an interactive computer animation complete the presentation.
