The Hermitage of Dompaire
The Hermitage of Consolation was built in 1684 by Brother Urbin who had lost his wife and children at the age of 35. Having taken a vow of poverty, he passed the property to the parish priest of Dompaire in 1710. During the Revolution, the Hermitage was put up for sale as national property. It underwent major work during the 19th century. Today, it is privately owned.
