Frohmuhl

Frohmuhl is a typical village in the valleys carved out of the pink sandstone of the Lorraine Plateau, and like many other villages in Alsace Bossue, it has the Eichel River running through it. The slopes surrounding the village and the valley itself were reforested following the abandonment of agriculture in the second half of the 20th century. For the past ten years, the Vosges du Nord Regional Nature Park has been experimenting with the ecological management of wasteland through extensive Highland Cattle rearing, keeping the valley landscape open at low cost.
