The Schoenau castle mound, surrounded by a ditch (previously in water) that is still clearly visible, is about ten metres high and 50 metres in diameter at its base. At its summit stood one of the first medieval castles on a plain made of earth and wood. The antiquity of the site is attested by numerous discoveries of pottery shards and ceramics.
