À propos
Adjacent to Saint-Pierre church, the Palais Abbatial lies at the heart of the Nobles Dames de Remiremont canonical district. Rebuilt between 1752 and 1756 by Abbess Anne-Charlotte de Lorraine and designed by architect Jean Nicolas Jeannesson, it reflects the classical style of the Dukes of Lorraine.
The Palais is distinguished by three facades: a fan-shaped one overlooking the Jardin des Olives, another on Place de l'Abbaye in a unique style evoking Napoleonic campaigns, and a third on Place Mesdames, revealing a paved courtyard and a former ice house.
Burnt down in 1871 by the Prussians, it has since been restored.
